A program of the Lawrence Hall of Science that seeks to increase ocean literacy through informal and formal education initiatives
Environmental education through music, poetry, drama, and movement with hands-on science. Ask for the Slug's Marine Science Program. Based on the Slug's award winning Slugs at Sea and the MARE curriculum, this program focuses on the marine habitats of the West Coast. Favorite Slug's songs such as the Water Cycle Boogie are featured. All performances are developmentally appropriate for the age group. Family nights and special events are also available.
Crab Cove is a marine reserve at Crown Memorial State Beach. This is an excellent place to observe sandy beach processes as well as intertidal plants and animals. Pond programs are also available with a focus on local plants and birds. The southern end of the beach is a saltwater marsh with a large variety of shorebirds and waterfowl including the endangered Clapper Rail. Call for a reservation form. Application deadlines for mail-in lottery of first Monday in May for summer prgorams, first Monday in Auygust for autumn programs, and first Monday is December for spring programs.
The Ocean Adventure
The oceans come to you with unique, virtual underwater expeditions. Marine biologist and underwater photographer team, Wayne and Karen Brown, bring their world-wide ocean explorations to life with their high-energy, fast-paced, multimedia presentations that combine actual specimens, biological models, life-sized (or larger-than-life) inflatable animals, unique props, costumes, creative dramatics, storytelling techniques, high-tech SCUBA diving equipment, audience participation, and breathtaking underwater photography/videography.
The Blue Planet - Seas of Life
This BBC series of 8 fifty-minute programs, is one of the most comprehensive explorations of the Earth's ocean. From the deep to the shore, from pole to pole the series reveals extraordinary life and behavior that had never before been filmed. In some cases the species were only recently known to scientists.

The Shape of Life
This compelling eight hour series and accompanying outreach materials, tells the story of the great diversity of animal life on Earth. The Shape of Life was produced by Sea Studios Foundation for National Geographic Television and Film in association with PBS. The initiative was recognized for its science-based content, style, storytelling, pioneering techniques in underwater and deep-sea filmmaking, and integrated outreach model that achieved high levels of public participation.
Wild California
Wild California takes you to several natural habitats found in California, such as Pacific Coast, Salt Marsh, Oak Woodlands, Yosemite, Low Desert. This video was originally created to accompany the fabulous Wild California exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
World Alive
The wonder of life: The splendor of birth and growth, the grace of motion, the drama of survival, the beauty of courtship and renewal. This video profiles the myriad creatures of the planet, their activities and interactions.
World Between The Tides
