Reflecting on Practice

Reflecting on Practice is a professional learning program for educational professionals in informal Institutions. Educators using Moon Balls to explain eclipse

More than 50 such institutions—aquariums, botanical gardens, museums, national parks, nature centers, and zoos—around the U.S. and Canada have adopted the program to date, with more institutions and educators joining the community all the time.

The program immerses educators from an informal learning institution in the latest research on learning, and encourages them to examine how these ideas relate specifically to their own practice. Experiences within the program strengthen a shared understanding and language among educators within an institution, and cultivate a culture of learning.

Reflecting on Practice is partnered with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, National Association for Interpretation, and the Association of Science-Technology Centers.
